Internet Marketing: Are You Selling Hot Air?
If you’ve been reading much online about how to earn cash from the web, you may have noticed that there’s a great deal of “air” being sold. Have you bought the sizzle but were left hungry for the steak? You’re not alone. The internet is like the wild, wild west and we are in sad need of a few good Texas Rangers.
It seems almost everybody starts out by writing an e-Book, and there’s nothing wrong with that providing the information inside is worth what’s being paid for it. I suppose you could make the argument that value is relative, but you wouldn’t win any debates with it. Honestly, I don’t know how some people sleep at night.
Thankfully, you don’t have to become an outlaw to make a living online.
There are many legitimate examples of honest income to be had by the person who is willing to do a little leg work. Hot air isn’t the only thing that sells, by any means. People are making money with tee-shirts, coffee cups, and mouse pads at a couple of the more popular print-on-demand services. Tote bags, badges, buttons, greeting cards, stamps… the list of products is impressive, and they are just waiting for your original design or public domain image to bring them to life.
No talent for design, you say? Not to worry!
You can earn a commission just by referring people to other people’s work.
No website, you say?
Again, not a problem. Seth Godin has a terrific site called Squidoo where anybody can build a cool, interactive web page (which they call a lens) and can put in modules that people can purchase products from. No hosting fees, no HTML knowledge required, and Squidoo shares the commissions with you, so you don’t even have to set up you own affiliate accounts.
